Two people are placed under arrest after police found more than one pound of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Ordot-Chalan Pago.

Christopher A. Burgos, 49, and Rosanne C. Burgos, 38, were each arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of a controlled substance and possession illegal delivery, dispensing, manufacturing, and distribution.

Christopher was also arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, assault on a police officer, eluding a police officer, reckless driving and resisting arrest.

Guam Police Department spokesperson officer Berlyn Savella said K9 Units were conducting criminal interdiction in the central village when officers stopped the suspect’s car along Route 4 near the Ordot church for a traffic violation.

“After being informed of the violation the operator’s encounter with the officer lead to a secondary detention to be conducted with a canine and his handler however the operator to fled the scene and struck the officer with his vehicle,” said officer Savella in a news release.

The officer suffered minor injuries, as Christopher allegedly led police on a brief chase toward Chalan Ping Pago Street where he was taken into custody.

Authorities note that during the pursuit, a large shopping bag was thrown from the suspect’s car on Manibusan Lane.

Officers confiscated the item that contained 510.27 gross grams of meth.

The pair is being held in the Department of Corrections prison.
