University of Guam seeks Carbon Credit Certification to fund conservation efforts

The University of Guam is exploring new ways to fund conservation efforts through Carbon Credit Certification.
As part of its Guam Restoration of Watersheds initiative, the UOG Center for Island Sustainability and Sea Grant is seeking Gold Standard Carbon Credit Certification for its tree planting projects in southern Guam.
This certification would help generate revenue to support reforestation, reduce land erosion, and protect freshwater sources and marine habitats.
To inform the public and gather input, UOG will hold a community meeting on Monday, April 7, at 6 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Guam.
UOG officials said this initiative aims to create long-term financial sustainability for conservation efforts while benefiting the local environment and economy.
