To expand and improve workforce development services for Veterans, the Guam Department of Labor and the Guam Office of Veterans Affairs have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, creating a dedicated liaison between the agencies and strengthening support for veteran employment initiatives.

The MOU was finalized Thursday, March 6, 2025 between GDOL Director David Dell’Isola and GOVA Director Jose San Agustin.

“Veterans are among our highest priority of service at the American Job Center. Any time a Veteran walks through our doors or gives us a call, they get priority of service,” said GDOL Director Dell’Isola. “This partnership with Veterans Affairs is a connection to a sister agency that serves Veterans every day. This MOU will ensure a direct link to the AJC so our Veterans have the tools for their workforce needs.”

“We are proud to partner with Veterans Affairs and help our island’s Veterans find jobs and careers. Guam has among the highest military enlistment rates in the nation. So, when they retire or are done with their service in the armed forces, it’s only right that we give them the support they need to transition successfully into civilian careers,” said GDOL Deputy Director Gerard Toves.

The MOU establishes that GOVA and GDOL and will assist new clients to register into hireguam.com, promote agency programs and initiatives, attend and participate in agency outreach events when possible, and assign appropriate staff to serve as a liaison to each agency for the coordination of all case management, among other initiatives.
