The Guam Congress building is more than just a venue, it’s a tribute to our island’s resilience.

In celebration of Mes CHamoru, symbols of CHamoru culture, from proas to latte stones line the entrance, lawn, and main hall, reflecting the strength of our people as we continue to rebuild from the COVID-19 pandemic and Typhoon Mawar.

Governor Lou Leon Guerrero is expected to highlight that same resilience and strength as she lays out a path forward in her address.

While the focus tonight is in the future, securing the building remains a top priority.

Preparations were complete for the Governor's State of the Island Address. Crews have set up chairs, and the security teams have conducted a full sweep of the building to ensure everything is in place ahead of the event

“We’re securing the perimeter, but I’m not going to get into the details. We’ll make sure all of our visitors and dignitaries are in good hands for their safety,” said Ed Pocaigue, Guam Legislature Sergeant-at-Arms.

Guam Police Department Chief Stephen Ignacio confirmed with KUAM that GPD is leading security efforts in coordination with the legislature’s team.

About 60 invited guests, including island leaders and dignitaries, are expected to be in attendance.

With the final details in place, the stage is set for Governor Lou Leon Guerrero to deliver her vision for Guam's future, one built on resilience, economic strength, and improving quality of life for all.
