The Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority is taking steps toward a long-awaited transportation solution for the CNMI.

COTA has launched a feasibility study to evaluate the viability of a passenger inter-island ferry service connecting Saipan, Tinian, Rota, and Guam.

The study, funded by a competitive federal transit administration grant, will assess the costs, economic benefits, and infrastructure needs of the system.

Alongside the ferry study, COTA is also developing a sustainable transit master plan to improve land-based transportation and ensure connectivity across the islands.

Governor Arnold Palacios said the initiative is a critical step in creating reliable transportation options for residents and businesses.
