Education Oversight Chair concerned with mass layoffs at the U.S. Department of Education

Education Oversight Chair Senator Vince Borja wants answers from Guam Delegate James Moylan about the massive shakeup at the U.S. Department of Education.
Borja wrote, “This clearly confirms the attempts of the Trump administration to drastically reduce the workforce levels of the federal entity. While we recognize that the objectives of the administration are to shift many of the functions and responsibilities of the department to the state and territorial levels, our concern is how this will impact Guam and our ability to secure much needed federal funding for education.”
The Senator and Guam Delegate met virtually over the weekend.
Borja was given assurances that no adverse impacts were forthcoming with education funding.
This led to the Guam Legislature canceling an emergency session to tap into an emergency revolving fund for the Guam Department of Education.
