In an effort to combat Guam's devastating statistic of now more than one fatal drowning a month,  Amphibious Aquatics announced that registration is now open for Drown-Free Guåhan Initiative training sessions.

You can register at  www.amphibiousguam.com.

The DFG Spring sessions will again consist of two groups. One targets youth ages 5 to 17 in coordination with a parent or caregiver; the other is a separate training for adult non-swimmers 18 years and over.

The training will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Tumon on March 29, April 12 & April 19, 2025.

Each 30-minute session will focus on basic water safety, developing awareness, and learning how to minimize the risks of drowning.

“We encourage our community to take the first step towards a safer future and join us for a DFG Spring session. We look forward to increasing awareness, enhancing readiness and continuing to do our part to make Guam a safer place to live, work and visit,” said Andy Lee, Head Coach of Amphibious Aquatics. “Amphibious and our community partners continue to offer these sessions to build our community capacity and work towards a Drown-Free Guåhan.

“Our Club sees its support as an investment in the safety of our first responders who put themselves in harms way to ensure the safety of the community, but also an investment in maintaining our heritage in teaching our youth care, stewardship, and respect for the ocean,” said Rotary Club of Tumon Bay President, Ryan Mummert.

“This effort aligns with our Amphibious mission to provide youth and adult training and build water confidence, conditioning and skill in our community. We are grateful to the Hyatt Regency Guam for hosting us, as well as our sponsors and community partners for stepping up to support this critical safety effort,” said Amphibious Aquatics President, Jennifer Camacho.
