A police officer on Rota finds himself on the other side of the law.

He stands accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a local bar. 

CNMI Department of Public Safety officials confirmed Officer Joseph Barcinas is currently placed on administrative duties after a criminal complaint for assault and disturbing the peace was filed against him.

A woman in her 20s alleged Officer Barcinas inappropriately touched her while at the Aquarius Bar in the village of Songsong, Rota.

The allegations were reported to DPS Rota on early Sunday morning. 

No other details about the case have been released.
