The Guam Department of Education announces that the Faneyåkan, CHamoru Medium/Immersion Program for kindergarten students for the upcoming school year 2025 – 2026 is accepting applications beginning Friday, March 21, 2025.

Families can submit an application for their child as the program not only promotes academic growth, but also fosters CHamoru culture and appreciation. 

The immersion program is located at P.C. Lujan Elementary School.

Application is open to all children who will be 5 years old by July 31, 2025. 

To apply, families must meet the following requirements:

  • Completion and submission of the online application available at http://tinyurl.com/SinipokApply.
  • Students with CHamoru language skills preferred, not required.
  • Families must commit eight hours monthly to provide support/service to the program.
  • Families must commit to learning the CHamoru language and culture to provide an immersive language environment for the student outside the classroom. 

The selection process will involve a review of all applications and then, followed by an interview with selected families to discuss the program.

The program uses the CHamoru language as a medium of instruction for all core subjects. 

The program school days are Mondays through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:43 p.m. Transportation to and from school must be provided by parents and/or guardians. 

School busing is available for students who live within the attendance zones of P.C. Lujan Elementary School.
