A woman is recovering in the hospital after being hit by a car in Saipan overnight. 

It happened just before 7 pm along Beach Road in Chalan Lau Lau. 

CNMI Department of Public Safety officials say the 57-year-old pedestrian was crossing Beach Road when she was hit by a car on the inner northbound lane. 

Video captured from the crash scene quickly circulated online. 

Authorities say the woman was semi-conscious, lapsing in and out of awareness.

She was taken to Commonwealth Health Care Corporation and is said to be in stable condition.

The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene. 

He was interviewed by police. 

Officers noting they did not detect any signs that he was impaired. 

DPS Highway Patrol Section Investigation Unit is investigating.
