CNMI Congresswoman King-Hinds announces annual NMI Congressional Art competition

CNMI Congresswoman King-Hinds announced the start of the district’s Congressional Art Competition.
Each Spring, the U.S. House of Representatives invites high school students from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories to showcase their artistic talent.
“I am excited to see the many submissions that will come in this year. Our students will not only show the nation their incredible talent but also highlight how special our community is through their eyes,” said Congresswoman King-Hinds.
This year’s theme is “Artist Choice – the CNMI through my eyes,” and the winning submission will have an opportunity to have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.
The art competition is free and open to all high school students. Students have until 5 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, to submit their artwork via hand delivery or mail to one of the congressional district offices on Saipan, Rota, or Tinian, which are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Congressional Art Competition rules require that submitted artwork be original, two-dimensional works.
Eligible artwork can be paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media art, computer-generated art, or photography. Artwork must also be suitable for public display.
A panel of local judges will select a winner based on originality, technical difficulty, creativity, communication, effectiveness, and overall appearance.
