Residing in Los Angeles, former Guam resident Chad Rivera is a singer, songwriter, hair and makeup artist and you can now add filmmaker to his resume. Rivera, who is currently attending film school, is pouring everything into this project - a crime/comedy musical.

Rivera says of his passion project, "I'm a proud Chamorro and I'm currently directing  a short filmed called The Gay Guy Falls In Love With A Murderer." He added, "Ever since I was young , I've always watched the OG YouTube era with my cousin, so we would pick up our cameras and start making little skits."

So how did his short film come about? "I actually have the acronym  here upside down, The Gay Guy Falls In Love With The Murderer. It's super short. It's very vague. I created this because I've always had a thing for crime/comedy like Rush Hour and Pink Panther. I always thought it was so funny. I wanted to incorporate musicals because i was one of those High School Musical kids. I love the random singing and random dancing," he said.

And without giving too much away, Rivera was able to divulge just a bit, saying, "It follows two best friends/detectives chasing down a serial killer...taunts the police. With the murderer."

And like many, Rivera admits he loved the movie Wicked and you better believe he is drawing inspiration from the blockbuster. He said, "This is the lighting that I want, the camera movements...I believe in each and every one of them."

Rivera says there is an Instagram account set up for the film complete with teasers, trailers, and information about auditions. You can find and follow @findthecrayonkeeler. There is also a GoFundMe campaign under Help Bring Guam-Native & Veteran's Short Film To Life.

"All of your support, every single cent that you send to us will be going toward production, going toward feeding our cast and crew, cost for location because some of these locations we really want to showcase these establishments, some of them cost per hour and its a really, really big production, and we're shooting for nine days, i know with the small budget we have- it can be great....we know it can be even greater!" he said.

He is also thankful for brands, companies, and local businesses who have jumped on as sponsors. "I want to give a shout out all of the local Chamorro brands that has been helping me so far a lot of the time, all I had to do was tell then I have a dream and right away, they were like – I'll support it. You have so much drive and ambition and it melts my heart," he said.

And in return he is ready to give back. "I'm starting with very little and I want to be able to give back ten times the amount for all the support that I'm getting," he said.

And of course we will keep you up to date, as Rivera chases his dream.
