Police identify passenger killed in Dededo crash

A man who was sitting in the passenger seat of a car involved in a serious crash reported in Dededo over the weekend has died.
Guam police identified him as Scott Anthony Cruz, 37, of Dededo.
The crash happened on along Route 1 Marine Corps Drive and Fatima Road around 1:32 am Saturday.
Investigators said the driver of a gray sedan was headed northbound on the outer lane when the driver ran off the roadway and hit a concrete utility pole.
Medics from the Guam Fire Department rushed Cruz and the driver the Guam Regional Medical City.
Cruz was pronounced deceased at 2:24 am.
The driver’s condition remains unknown.
The Guam Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
“GPD offers its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Cruz during this difficult time,” GPD spokesperson Norman Analista stated in a news release.
The crash occurred just hours after authorities responded to a separate deadly crash along Route 15 in Yigo late Friday. Police have yet to release new details into that crash.
