Congressman James Moylan is urging the Secretary of the Army to review the distinguished service crosses awarded to three Guam heroes and consider upgrading them to the Medal of Honor.

In a letter to Secretary Daniel Driscoll, Moylan highlighted the heroism of Specialist 4 Joseph Meno Perez, Sergeant Major Juan Ogo Blaz, and Command Sergeant Major Martin Manglona.

SPC4 Perez suffered life-altering injuries in Vietnam in 1967, shielding his comrades from a grenade blast.

SGM Blaz and CSM Manglona also displayed exceptional heroism under enemy fire.

Moylan said no individual from Guam has ever received the Medal of Honor, calling this recognition long overdue.

The Secretary of the Army’s approval is a crucial step in advancing this request through the Senate and House as part of the National Defense Authorization Act.

Moylan thanked Marine Corps Colonel Joaquin "Danny" Santos Jr., Air Force CMS Bill Cundiff, and Former Congressman Robert Underwood for their efforts in pushing this initiative forward.
