Dededo Precinct Command welcomes Japanese youth

The Dededo Precinct Command hosted a meet and greet on March 28 with about a dozen youths from the Gifu Prefecture located in the center of Japan.
Sgt. II Christopher Dawson of the DPC says this is the third visit from a group of youths from Japan this year. The name of the group is Kagamihara Kokusaikyouryokukai and their visit was sponsored by the Japanese government.
The students were excited to sit inside a police vehicle, tour the Dededo Precinct and to look at the equipment that police use in the course of duty.
They were also able to engage in a Q&A session with officers.
The field trip on Mar. 28 was intended for the youth to learn about police precincts. A previous visit to DPC was made by a high school class whose curriculum focused on law enforcement.
The educational visits are aimed at helping students to decide what career paths they want to take by the time they graduate from high school.
“We want the tour and the discussions with the officers to create a positive outlook on law enforcement for these students. We want these youths to know that joining the police force is a viable career path,” said Dawson.
