Bread Bar by Okayama Kobo, a premium Japanese bakery, is excited to announce its grand opening on Friday, April 11, 2025 at the Micronesia Mall.

This marks the debut of authentic Japanese bread and pastries on the island, offering a fresh, innovative experience crafted with traditional techniques and 100% natural ingredients.

As part of the renowned Okayama Kobo family of artisan bakeries, Bread Bar brings with it decades of Japanese baking expertise, founded in 1986 by Tsunetaka Kawakami.

Drawing from his years of experience, Mr. Kawakami revolutionized the baking industry by creating bread free from additives, softeners, and preservatives.

Today, Bread Bar by Okayama Kobo continues to honor that tradition, offering Guam’s only bakery that uses 100% Hokkaido flour, fresh ingredients, and natural methods to bake delicious, preservative-free bread every day.

The grand opening event will commence with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 12 p.m., featuring brief remarks from dignitaries, key stakeholders, and a special appearance by Mr. Kawakami himself.

Bread Bar by Okayama Kobo has already sparked local excitement with a soft launch on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, during which the bakery hosted a pop-up event, offering free baked goods to mall employees and the general public.

"We are thrilled to bring the time-honored tradition of Japanese baking to Guam through Bread Bar by Okayama Kobo. Our commitment to using only the finest ingredients, including 100% Hokkaido flour and preservative-free dough, ensures that every bite reflects the quality and craftsmanship that Okayama Kobo is known for. We can't wait to share this experience with the community and invite everyone to celebrate our grand opening with us,” said Jeselyn “Gigi” Tan Yu, CEO/President of Goodwind Development Corporation, Parent Company of Bread Bar by Okayama Kobo.
