A high school teacher who once stood accused of allegations of molesting a 14-year-old student gets a sweetheart deal.

Defendant Nicolas Jeffrey Bailey pleaded guilty to official misconduct, jurisdiction of an adult, and distribution of tobacco to persons under 21 years of age.

He appeared before Judge Vernon Perez in Superior Court where he was given a two-year suspended sentence, meaning he was spared jail time.

Prosecutors told the court the victim's family did not want to re-traumatize her by having her testify in court, adding they just want Bailey to be held accountable for his actions.

The plea deal led to the fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and harassment charges being dismissed.

As reported, Bailey denied the molestation allegations but admitted to authorities that he texted another student asking if she had a boyfriend and sent her romantic memes.
