Our community was glued to their screens at what Governor Lou Leon Guerrero described as a "very frightening" situation with the pursuit and eventual capture of Pangelinan. Chief of Police Stephen Ignacio told KUAM News at the crash site, "As he was coming out of Swamp Road onto Ysengsong Road, it appears that due to his excessive speed, he lost control of his vehicle and cleared the roadway onto Stampa Road where he lost control and ended up in a ditch and into the jungle."

Mobile video from a neighbor at the scene, shared countless times on WhatsApp, gave insight into an exchange of gunfire, and ultimately Pangelinan's capture. Dededo residents were heard screaming "They shot him!"

The chief continued, "As the officers were approaching...the officers heard what may have been a single gunshot. Several of our officers returned fire. He's been transported by medics to the hospital for treatment."

Pangelinan is under tight watch at the nearby medical facility. Chief Ignacio says the combined effort of a multiagency response was able to handle the situation quickly, with no injuries to any officers.

"This was a very well-coordinated effort with all of our precincts," said Ignacio in assessment of the operation. "Because they were also involved with a pursuit, starting with the Agat Precinct all the way up to th Dededo Precinct area. All the men and women who stayed the course and who continued to saturate this area to flush this guy out from wherever he was hiding."
