Eyewitnesses recall attempted carjacking, shooting in Talo'fo'fo

A frightening Saturday in Talo’fo’fo.
“I heard the car accident. I came out here to make sure everyone was OK. The gunman came out of that silver car. He had a backpack, took out the revolver and I just sprinted right back home,” said one neighbor.
This woman called 911 moments after hearing the crash along Route 4A.
“There’s families here and everyone wants to be safe. Now we are kind of scared to even leave our homes,” she added.
Residents were told to stay indoors.
The suspect, Jeromy Pangelinan, crashed the silver Sedan into a black pickup truck driven by Clayton Joseph.
Joseph was unable to avoid the speeding car from making an impact.
“Suddenly he just reached into a pouch and then pulled out a gun and then start aiming at everybody,” said Joseph.
He and his passengers got out unharmed.
“Not hurt. We just run for our lives,” added Joseph.
Another driver recalls the crash.
“He sideswiped me and when we got down to check if everybody was ok, he pulled out a gun,” said this attempted carjacking victim.
Police said Pangelinan shot at the driver in another car injuring their hand before taking off on foot.
“We were just fearing for our lives…shaken up. Not ok. Just can't believe our island, this is what happens,” they added.
More than 130 local and federal authorities combed the area for hours using infrared drone tech and K-9’s to sniff out the suspect.
Lt. Governor Josh Tenorio also showed up as the situation unfolded minutes away from his home.
“I know that there’s some naughty people out there. People that don’t deserve to be out in the community. Those people need to be in prison,” said Lt. Gov. Tenorio.
