New coastal safety signs unveiled at Ypao Beach Park

Ahead of this weekend’s Japanese Autumn Festival, new signs at Ypao Beach Park are giving visitors a safer experience at the shore.
The Bureau of Statistics and Plans unveiled redesigned coastal signs at Ypao Beach Park, funded through federal COVID relief dollars.
Placed on both sides of the park, the signs include safety tips on marine life, rip currents, and marine preserve rules.
Visitors can scan QR codes to access beach advisories and multilingual resources, including CHamoru, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Tagalog, Chuukese, Marshallese, Pohnpeian, Yapese, and Kosraean.
Ypao is one of seven locations to get these upgrades with other signs installed from Gun Beach to Malesso’.
