GMH Volunteers Association celebrating a legacy of caring, compassion & contribution

The Guam Memorial Hospital Volunteers Association, affectionately known as The Pink Ladies is marking 60 years of service with a massive giveaway—and a powerful mission. One lucky winner could drive away in a brand-new Ford truck, or win $5,000 cash—all while supporting life-saving equipment for the island's only public hospital.
It’s not every day you get the chance to win a brand-new Ford Ranger STX—and help save lives in the process. The GMH Volunteers Association is celebrating six decades of service with a charity ball. The ball is set for April 26 at the Dusit Thani, with the theme “Boots and Baubles.”
President Therese Guzman Calvo also says this year’s charity ball will feature the “Legacy of A Lifetime Tribute,' explaining, "We will be honoring Margaret Jones, one of our founding members."
Founded in 1965, the Pink Ladies have played a vital role in supporting patient care and securing millions of dollars funding for critical hospital equipment. Co-chair for the event and GMH volunteer Julie Jones Merrill said, "These ladies are a force. They are a well-oiled machine, they have done this before they've had many more charity balls before this one. And its amazing how they all know their role. They are there every single time."
"It's been very gratifying , I'm a new person to the Pink Ladies and its been very gratifying to see how well they work together and how passionate they are about this cause and about this hospital."
And this year is no exception for the Pink Ladies, giving back in a big way. For just $50 a ticket, supporters can enter to win major prizes: a fully-loaded Ford Ranger courtesy of Triple J Auto Group, or a $5,000 baby grand cash prize. And thanks to United Airlines, there’s even a bonus—two roundtrip tickets from Guam to the US, via Honolulu. All proceeds from raffle ticket sales will go toward purchasing vital hospital equipment—making a direct impact on patient care.
Calvo said, "An anesthesia machine, two strike ICU beds, and rehab services equipment."
Tickets are available now at GMH's gift shop, Triple J Honda in Tamuning, and Triple J HQ in Upper Tumon. If you happen to be at GPO on Saturday April 12, the Pink Ladies will be there from 11am-2pm selling tickets. The drawing is set for April 26, 2025—and you don’t need to be present to win. Merrill said, "We hope when people buy a ticket, they feel like they have a chance at winning a great prize, but also feel good about supporting a group that's been around 60 years."
A legacy of compassion and community—driving forward into the future. "We would like to thank our chairwomen Jenny Cruz and Julie Jones Merrill for chairing our 60th Charity Ball. I also would like to thank all our sponsors, our Pink Ladies, and everyone who has contributed to our charity ball," said Calvo.
