The Guam Department of Education is excited to share the incredible news that Luis P. Untalan Middle School recently achieved national recognition at the 2025 Association for Positive Behavior Support Film Festival during the APBS Conference in St. Louis, Missouri.

The school submitted a video entitled, “Wildcat Life in the Movies,” and won unanimously for the School Engagement Middle School Category on March 13.

“Your creativity, passion, and hard work have shone through in your film, and we are incredibly proud to celebrate your achievements,” said Cheretta Clerley, Executive Director of APBS.

“The honors truly belong to the students, faculty and leadership of the Luis Untalan Middle School,” said Connie Santiago, GDOE PBIS Coach who represented GDOE at the conference. “Now the entire PBIS network and the world can see the great works of Team WildCats. This makes a fantastic representation of our beautiful island of Guam.”

The APBS Film Festival highlights and celebrates the efforts of schools and organizations from around the United States in promoting Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports through film, emphasizing the positive impact of these initiatives on students’ lives and engagement. This year’s theme was “Bridging Relationships & Positivity.”

Schools submitted films demonstrating the core PBIS principles in two film categories—instruction and school engagement. An elementary school from Georgia and a high school from Missouri also won in the school engagement category, and a Georgia school won in the instruction category.

“Congratulations to the PBIS School Climate Cadre, faculty and staff, and students for obtaining this prestigious award! Your continued drive to go the further distance to create a positive and safe environment is a living testimony of your commitment and dedication! Un Dang Ku’lo Na Si Yu’os Ma’ase WildCats,” said Mrs. Agnes A. Guerrero, LPUMS Principal.

“Congratulations to LPUMS on this remarkable achievement! Your success at the APBS Film Festival is not only a win for your school but also a testament to the incredible impact of collaboration in PBIS implementation,” said Dr. Barbara R. Adamos, Acting Deputy Superintendent, Educational Support and Community Learning.
