US Coast Guard executes a Successful NASBLA Training Partnership at Station Apra Harbor

From March 24 to April 4, members of the Guam Port Authority and Guam Fire Department took part in two intensive coastal response training courses, including the NASBLA Boat Crew member course and the Boat Operator For Search and Rescue course, also known as Bosar.
The training was held at the Guam Port and U.S. Coast Guard station Apra Harbor, bringing together about 20 first responders for over 65 hours of combined classroom and on-the-water instruction.
Led by certified Coast Guard Coxswains, the courses focused on search and rescue operations, towing, risk management, and marine navigation.
Station Chief Jeremy Jarvis called the training a game-changer, saying it builds skills, trust, and a common standard for safety on the water.
The Port hosted the training and joined U.S. Coast Guard leaders for graduation ceremonies including a surprise visit by Governor Lou Leon Guerrero during week one.
With a mass rescue drill on the horizon, officials say this training is a crucial step in strengthening Guam's emergency response network.
