No emergency: Assessments underway to find out what triggered warning sirens in Humåtak, Yigo

Residents might have heard the sirens from the All Hazards Alert Warning System go off from Ft. Soledad in Humåtak and at the Yigo Gymnasium.
Officials with the Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense confirm the alerts were not connected to any emergency situation.
The sirens could be heard in Humåtak Saturday morning, while it went off twice in Yigo both Friday and Saturday.
Official said assessments are being made on the systems to identify any issues and remediate as needed.
Future tests of the AHAWS sirens will be conducted on a monthly basis and will typically fall on the first Tuesday of each month, unless it falls on an observed holiday.
