Day 3 in search for missing fisherman in waters off Guam

Day 3 in the search for local fisherman Jeffrey Hattori.
The U.S. Coast Guard, Guam Fire Rescue, The U.S. Navy, and local partners continue looking for the 58-year-old boater and his 14-foot skiff called Lady G.
Hattori's pickup truck and boat trailer remained at the Hagatna Boat Basin hours after he was expected to return to shore.
Rescuers say Hattori departed Hagåtña Boat Basin at 5:30am Saturday.
He was expected back by 4pm.
His family also remained at the docks hoping for his safe return.
His daughter Jhilynne Hattori shared this message to the community Sunday night: "I have seen the posts on IG and I am super thankful for everyone sending their thoughts and prayers for my dad. We are just hoping for his safe return like everybody else. Just thank you. If you or your family are fisherman and go out toward the sea and see any sign of my dad please let us know. Thank you," she said.
U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia/Sector Guam’s Joint Rescue Sub-Center refined the search area after Hattori’s cellular provider confirmed his phone’s last connection was via a tower near NCTAMS on Guam’s northwestern coast.
This information indicated a fishing area likely to be in the northwest.
Responders used the Search and Rescue Optimal Planning System to reassess probable search zones.
A U.S. Navy HSC 25 crew spotted a life ring in the search area, initially thought to be from Lady G.
But it belonged to a tank vessel.
After consulting family and local fishermen, teams are adjusting the search to include additional known areas offshore, where Hattori reportedly fished.
Monday’s efforts center off Ritidian Point and Guam’s western side.
Commander Patton Epperson, search and rescue mission coordinator, stating in part, “Our hearts are with Mr. Hattori’s family as we work to find him. The vast ocean and dynamic currents around guam present challenges, and we are grateful for the steadfast support."
Anyone with information about Hattori or his vessel is urged to 671-355-4826 or 1-877-418-0168.
