Thousands of dollars were stolen from a parked car in Tumon in broad daylight and the theft was caught on camera.

A video sent to the KUAM newsroom showed the thief caught in the act.

The theft unfolded about 5:30 p.m. on April 9, one week ago, along Frank H. Cushing Way in Tumon.

Surveillance video shows a man wearing a white shirt, blue shorts, and a baseball cap.

He opens the passenger side door of the victim's car before taking off with the victim's belongings.

Yves Peleyo reported it to Guam police and hopes you can help to identify the thief.

“I was just trying to offload something and the guy just came up so fast in less than ten minutes and when I came back I couldn't find my wallet...He took almost $2,000 and Japanese Yen and my ID, everything,” said Peleyo.

His message to the thief, "don't steal."

He adds the wallet is important to him as well, which is why he is hoping to get it back.

If you recognize the man on your screen you are asked to call the police.
