Ex-correctional officer caught with stolen gun

A former Department of Corrections officer convicted for his part in a major prison contraband scheme is back in prison after being caught with a stolen gun.
Jerome San Nicolas, 39, is caught with possession of a firearm without a valid ID.
Court documents state he was pulled over by police early Thursday morning before officers found a long-barrel shotgun in the his car.
San Nicolas allegedly admitted to police he found it in the jungle a week ago.
Officers took him into custody and discovered the firearm was reported stolen in Oct. 2021.
As reported, San Nicolas previously served six months in prison after admitting to his role in smuggling drugs and other contraband into the DOC in 2017.
Then, he pleaded guilty to official misconduct as a misdemeanor and was the only former corrections officer in the case to get any jail time.
