Water salute held for Army soldier Dante Taitano at Guam airport

This is a United Airlines flight inbound from Honolulu, Hawaii Wednesday night. 

The flight was carrying the body of Dededo native Dante Taitano.

First responders had their sirens going off and a water salute to welcome Taitano back home at the A.B. Won Pat International Airport. 

Taitano died on March 25 during a training exercise in Lithuania when the M-88 armored vehicle he was in sank into a swamp.

Taitano was among about 3,500 soldiers from the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team deployed in January to Poland and the Baltic states for a nine-month rotation as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve, which supports NATO allies and partners following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
