GDOE Superintendent on alleged termination push: “I’m still here”

Guam Department of Education Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Swanson responded to an alleged push to remove him from his post.
Just last week, the Guam Education Board approved charges against the superintendent, though details were discussed behind closed doors.
However, GEB Chair Angel Sablan confirmed in an interview with KUAM that some members of the board want Swanson terminated.
“All I can say is that I responded to them. I don’t know what the discussion in the executive session was about them, but I’m still here,” said Swanson. “Well, the board that hired me is not the board we have now–it’s changed, and that happens. We don’t always agree on how to do things, and their points of view are their points of view, and that’s about all I can say about it–but a board decision is a majority vote.”
Meantime, Swanson also took the time to reaffirm that recent federal changes will not prevent students from returning to classrooms next year.
