A historic commitment to clean energy was made right here on Guam as the President of the Marshall Islands joined the global push for a greener future.
At the University of Guam's 16th Conference on Island Sustainability, President Hilda Heine of the Marshall Islands signed the blue planet climate agreement, formally pledging her nation to 100% renewable energy by 2045.
The agreement, made in partnership with the blue planet alliance, advances the RMI’s climate strategy toward net-zero emissions.
President Heine also joined the Guam Green Growth initiative, a major step forward in the region’s sustainable development goals.
UOG officials said the moment underscores Guam's leadership in environmental action and the strength of collaboration among island nations to tackle climate change together.
