Man faces federal charges in Tamuning post office thefts

A man accused of breaking into the Tamuning Post Office now faces multiple federal charges for mail theft.
Matthew John Birola Sablan is charged with five counts of mail theft and one count of post office burglary. Surveillance footage shows a man with a tattoo on his leg stealing mail from the post office multiple times in late February.
Sablan was arrested March 4 after allegedly breaking into the post office’s sorting room and using a stolen credit card.
He later admitted to possibly stealing mail while under the influence of drugs, but couldn’t recall details.
Sablan was already out on pretrial release for three felony cases. He now faces up to 55 years behind bars if convicted on all charges.
