The Public Utilities Commission has given the Port Authority of Guam the go-ahead to move forward with a critical $4.8 million maintenance project for Warehouse 1.

The project will address long-standing structural issues such as rusted rebars and spalling concrete at the port's essential facility.

The project was awarded to BME & Sons, Inc., who brings experience from previous work at the Port.

Port General Manager Rory Respicio said the improvements are essential to maintaining safety and supporting Guam's commerce and national security.

The work is expected to begin soon, with a focus on strengthening infrastructure for the future.
