Respect, hospitality and love are virtues inherent in all islanders. And to complete the community-wide celebration of Pride Month, the LGBTQIA+ family, GovGuam leaders and scores of supporters joined in the 'Love Drives Us Forward' motorcade.

The group rolled out at Adelup, escorted by the Guam Police Department and the Legends Guam Motorcycle Club, heading north to Gun Beach. The movement as a diverse, united group was symbolic, joining together at the end to celebrate as a family. No two journeys are the same, but everyone is bonded by common humanity.

Sonny Duenas shared with KUAM News, "With the progress that we've made so far, it's really evident how integrated the LGBTQIA+ community is with the rest of the island community. My message is just to continue to allow us to educate. allow us to advocate, and then continue to support us in our journey towards equality. That's really the message that I hope to drive home."

Brian Terlaje says this year's Pride Month had meaningful steps forward, noting, "I was just looking at the the length of the motorcade; two years prior to this, it was much shorter. But seeing it now, we're moving in the right direction and we're being progressive."

There was also strong multigenerational participation, with young and older Guamanians showing support and smiles, which Duenas says allows today's community to stand on the shoulders of giants. "It really is just us paying homage to the generations before us who have really forged a path for us to be who we are today. And we only hope that we continue to encourage the generations after us to celebrate Pride, but to continue the work to allow the generations after them to celebrate, as well," he said.

And Sunday's sporadic sunshowers blessed those decorating their cars, trucks and jeeps with an extraspecial gift perfectly capturing the spirit of their trek. Roquin Siongco said, "This time last year we experienced a lot of hardships and we've got a little like sprinkle going on right now, but I'm really confident that there's always going to be a rainbow at the end of it. So I think it's just holding on to today and holding each other close and celebrating that!"

Still, the struggle for our LGBTQIA+ brothers and sisters continues, so the month was also to keep up the work in order to continue to move forward. And a simple message resonated throughout June to make happen.

Terlaje added, "It was great to get the message out there and to just show the love to our people to show our people that we are here, we are visible and we are all together and united."

And Glenn Lujan suggested, "Stay positive, live your truth, live your authentic self, and just love and respect each other. That's the important thing."
