Man dies after car collides with pole in Maite

A 30-year-old man is dead after being found unresponsive following an auto vs pole crash along Route 8 in Maite.
At around 5 am Saturday, units with the Guam Fire Department responded to the incident. GFD personnel extricated the victim and attempted CPR, but ceased care due to the extent of the victims injuries.
An investigation into the crash by Chalan RS Sanchez Street, is currently underway.
Meantime, traffic in the area has been redirected. Westbound lanes near the Benson Hardware Store are temporarily closed. Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes, with the suggested detour leading to the Mongmong-Toto-Maite road via the Mobil gas station along Route 8.
The Guam Police Department's Highway Patrol Division has been activated. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the investigation.
