The Department of Revenue & Taxation is alerting residents about a scam circulating on WhatsApp involving an individual falsely claiming to be a agency employee. The imposter is sending messages from phone number 1-938-294-0328 to local taxpayers in an attempt to obtain tax-related and personal information.

DRT urges residents to ignore and block these messages immediately. DRT emphasizes that it does not contact taxpayers through WhatsApp and does not use off-island phone numbers. Typically, taxpayers receive official notices regarding their taxes through postal mail and are instructed to initiate contact directly with the department.

In cases where DRT employees reach out to taxpayers, communication is conducted strictly through official office phone numbers and government email addresses.

Residents who receive suspicious messages or believe they have been targeted by this scam are encouraged to report the incident by emailing [email protected]. For more information, visit www.guamtax.com.
