The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Oliver Henry has returned to Guam after a 29-day patrol across the western Pacific.

The patrol, conducted under Operation Rematau, covered more than 4,000 nautical miles across Guam, the CNMI, and the Federated States of Micronesia. During the mission, the crew restored a critical tsunami early warning station at the remote Kapingamarangi Atoll, the first upgrade to the site in 12 years.

The crew also delivered about 3,000 pounds of humanitarian supplies to island communities with limited access to goods and conducted multiple fisheries enforcement boardings to support regional maritime security.

Officials say the upgraded monitoring station was online during a magnitude 7.4 earthquake in the Molucca sea on April 2, helping support tsunami readiness across the western Pacific.

The crew also completed training, port inspections in the CNMI, and mapped new navigational routes, further expanding the Coast Guard’s operational reach in the region.
